Shoe Shopping Tips and Tricks
Spring is almost upon us! What are you looking forward to? Most of us like to take part in some kind of spring cleaning, whether that’s deep cleaning the house or going through your closet and donating what you haven’t worn. Buying shoes is a tricky thing for most people since every shoe and foot is built differently. It can be hard to find the “right” pair. If you’d like to do some spring shoe shopping this upcoming season but don’t know where to start, we have you covered! Here are our top tips and tricks for finding the best shoe for you.
Measure Your Feet
As we age, our feet change and grow. This is why measuring your feet each time you buy new shoes is so important. Not only does it help take some of the guesswork out of finding your size, but it ensures that you’re buying a well-fitting pair. Another word of advice – try to avoid early morning shopping. Our feet swell as the day goes on, so our feet are the largest at the end of the day. This is ideally when you want to try on new shoes.
Put Them On
If you find a pair you like, don’t be afraid to try them on. Put on both pairs of shoes and take a quick walk around the store to get a good idea of what they’ll feel like day-to-day.
Make Sure They’re Comfortable
A lot of people buy shoes with the intention of “breaking them in”. Not only is this painful, but it can easily injure your feet. Instead, only buy a pair if they feel right during your try-on.
Shop With Your Feet In Mind
Have custom orthotics that you wear daily? Prefer the comfort of sneakers over boots? Deal with pain from arthritis or flat feet? Prefer wearing a certain type of sock or insert? Keep that in mind when you shoe shop! Bring along any gear with you to make trying on an easier experience.
