It’s the time of year when many people make new year’s resolutions. Are you one of them?   • Make smart footwear choices. Those high heels might look sharp, but they are known to contribute to foot deformities like bunions and hammertoes. Even worse, they cause instability in winter’s snow and ice and lead to falls resulting in foot and ankle injuries. Choose a sensible, comfortable pair of everyday shoes that offer great cushioning and support. If your feet are hurting, talk to your podiatrist about orthotics, custom shoe inserts that can provide relief. 

See your podiatrist at least once a year for a well visit, more often if you live with a chronic illness that threatens foot health, such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease.
